The Central Jihad and the Western Woes

Description

A combined German-Ottoman uberwank.

Basically OTL's call for Jihad against the Entente powers in WW1 by the Ottoman Empire, due to serious alien space bat brainwashing, basically results in a multi-continental revolution by Islamic fighters through the French, Italian, Russian, and British empires.

Effectively crippled, the Germans manage to overrun most of the continent, defeating the French in the spring of 1916 and the Russians in 1917, leaving both to collapse. The British are the only Entente state left, and after gaining air superiority over the English Channel, confiscating the Italian and French naval fleets, and even shipping several thousand units of the millions strong Army of Islam into Wales, the Germans launch across Calais and Cherbourg, striking the British Isles themselves all around. Although the invasion fails to make any ground and is effectively stalled at the beaches, it forces the British to accept defeat while they still can.

The aftermath is brutal. In Europe, the Germans dice and slice the French, Italian, and Russian states altogether, forming a series of puppet-states and creating a multi-national German-dominated European economic-military alliance. The Spanish soon join the Central Powers to gain some goodies of their own, and to pick at Portugal. In the Dual Monarchy, ethnic excitement at the Islamic revolution causes some grumblings from the Magyar nobility and the other Slavic minorities, and so the German elite strikes a covert deal with the German Empire, forming an expanded Kleindeutschland as a federal monarchy. The agitation is liquidated by force and political reasoning, and with the conclusion of the unification Congress Poland is added as a third wheel, thus forming a dominant balance between the two German kingdoms (Prussia and Austria) and Poland as the Slavic (minority leader) kingdom to represent the rest.

In the Ottoman Empire, things had changed dramatically. A slovenly state before the war, the Sultan now found himself with an extremely strong power base. This left the Young Turks with little to no support, and thus he swept them aside and resumed the role of an absolute monarch. The empire had been revitalized, most sects of Islam reunified into the new Osmani Islamic sect, and a rapid liberalization and modernization of the empire.

On the Ottoman front during the war, as the leader of Islam, the Sultan began to re-assume his role as Caliph and began directing the revolutionary movements in North Africa and Central Asia. With the Turkic movements siding with the Ottomans, Russian authority collapsed there quickly. The Persians were quick to oust the Russian occupation forces in the north, who found themselves trapped when the Army of Islam swept into the Caucasus and freed the Islamic states that had been under the Russian yoke for nearly two hundred years. The British proved a larger hassle, but managed to sway enough southern Iranians with bribes to cause a large enough problem to result in an independent southern Iran after the war.

In the meantime, the German-Ottoman expedition to Afghanistan had succeeded, and with the back of an army numbering in the millions sweeping across his western borders the Emir launched an invasion of the British Raj, reaching Delhi by January 1918. With the Raj itself already in the midst of Indian mutinies and smaller local Muslim guerrilla fights, the British withdrew from the north with their loyal Indian supporters and settled on a trench front stretching from the Arabian Sea to the Bay of Bengal. This would remain the same until the end of the war, with minor Ottoman actions moving into Xinjiang and northern Burma as side theaters with little action themselves.

In Africa, the Germans and Ottomans did much better than expected. Most of French Africa went up in revolt once news of the Islamic jihad spread (yay for alien brainwashing), the French authorities and citizens mostly executed for 'crimes against humanity' and a shitload of other things. From Palestine, the Army of Islam's western branch launched across the Sinai peninsula, took control of the Suez canal, raced down the Nile into Egypt and Sudan, and battered the British from all sides with help from local militias and nature itself (a sandstorm stretching 20 miles blocked the movements of a British army advancing from Equatoria long enough for the Ottomans to seize Khartoum and fortify. The next day the British were massacred by a Sudanese surprise attack and then mopped up by the Ottomans).

The end of the war came in 1921, two days after Christmas. There was no official name for the treaty, but it would decide the fate for most of the world. The French, Italian, Russian and British nations were to be punished for their transgressions, provoking the 'wrath of the Gods' by foolishly backing the Serbians and others who provoked the German and Muslim peoples. The French, Portuguese, and Russian empires were broken up into puppet states, colonies taken by the victors, and states going completely independent for the first time in half a century. The Ottomans extended their control across three continents, the Germans five, and the old order had been eviscerated beyond recognition.

The few Entente powers who avoided annihilation, Portugal and Japan, would get their own punishment. Japan was forced to withdraw from the overseas areas it took from Germany in China and the Pacific, to withdraw its demands against the Chinese people, and to pay 10 million marks in reparations. It's sentence was mild. Portugal had its empire divided, its home nation occupied (Algarve taken back by te Spanish). Luckily the British helped it maintain its possessions in India and the East Indies, and after the end of its occupation in 1925 the Anglo-Portuguese alliance was renewed as a strict military and economic pact.

Elsewhere in the world, those who had acted and those who had been punished slowly sought revenge. The Americans hadn't acted in the war, as they weren't provoked, but they supported the heavily damaged British and Portuguese economies as well as moved further towards an official pact of friendship with the Japanese. Wilson had stayed true to his promise, but many in the United States believed that they should have acted before the 'Hun' and the 'Heathens' took over the Old World. The Anglo-Japanese alliance was also renewed oncemore, and a three way pact between the British, Portuguese and Japanese was soon established. Each began to slowly swing to the right in politics, cracking down on any dissident activity or any political agendas which went against the government sanctioned course.

The British federated their empire, making three special Dominions in India, enlarging the Canadian Dominion with the addition of Sierra Leone and British Guyana, creating the West Indies Dominion, and directly incorporating smaller bits of its old empire into the British Isles as new provinces.

With the 40's descending upon the Great Powers of the world, the two superpowers are stressed. The Americans have been busy building up an economic empire in the Americas, the Japanese have been snatching up land after wars with the Dutch and Siberian refugee's, and the Chinese have been wishing for an 'axis of three' for a final war to end any threat for good.

And somewhere in the southern Indian Ocean, the flash of a star was seen late in the dusk... during a windstorm.
