The People From The Sky, Act 3

By the end of the year, the Azarenth had worked wonders; The reinvigoration of fossil DNA gave their regular soldiers mounts that hadn't been seen on Earth since the Jurassic period and the Ice Age. Mammoths hefted ore and machinery across the Great Siberian Mountains, and genetically-engineered Allosaurus' rode against Russian cavalry. The new beasts of war had a profound impact against human units, most of which came to dread combat even more now that they watched their comrades being eaten alive. Morale dropped considerably, especially in January, when the people kidnapped by the Azarenth in 1897 returned to the Earth as soldiers named Grubs, genetically-modified humans with Azarenth pistols and a lack of feeling. The painless automatons were controlled by a central computer on Luna, and acted as cohesive units, fighting their own species. The bane was worse as the Azarenth cloned them, creating entirely new divisions on zombified human beings. The only advantage the humans had were the weaponry they dropped; Kill a Grub, and you end up with a weapon the size of a human arm, with a solar battery. Humanity, ever inventive, used Azarenth weapons against their new foes, but things were still bleak.

In Central America, the only nation not under Azarenth dominance was Mexico, which was doing its best counteracting the intense jungle warfare as the Azarenth special operation units. Further south, Peru was reduced to its capital of Lima, and the Bolivians occupied empty land to forestall their own destruction.


In Eurasia, France, Germany, and Spain each had successes on their own fronts, but Austria-Hungary was a far different story. The nation had been pushed into the Adriatic, and held out only on its small coastline. German forces did their best to forestall an Azarenth advance, but all hell broke loose when the Russian Empire fell. The Siberian units of the Azarenth war machine fielded entire divisions of Grub soldiers and prehistoric animals, mammoths dragging artillery weapons, dinosaurs rampaging across battlefields, and after months of warfare the Russians abandoned the north and fled into the east bank of Ukraine, holding onto Central Asia by a thread. The Empress set herself up as regent in Tsaritsyn, believing Nicholas II to be dead. In Saint Petersburg, a final desperate defense was fought as the city was completely surrounded. The same occurred in Moscow, where the only defense was the armies trapped inside it.

With Russia's fall, a new chapter of the war was unleashed; The Azarenth now controlled land from Central Europe to the Sea of Okhotsk, controlling land as far south as Tibet and as far North as Franz Josef Land. They had finally opened up into full war with the Imperial Japanese Army in Manchuria, and in middle Africa a rough advance into central Tanganyika and Kenya was in order. All was well, for them at least.
